Japan paper Yomiuri Shimbun retracts 'sex slaves' references
Japan's biggest newspaper has issued a controversial apology for using the term "sex slaves" when referring to women who worked in brothels set up for Japanese soldiers in World War Two. Former comfort women and their relatives have held demonstrations in Tokyo demanding justice. Japan apologised in 1993 for forcing thousands of women, many from China and South Korea, into army brothels. (Webmaster's comment: The women from occupied China and occupied South Korea were forced! They were sex slaves! Conservatives are always trying to sanitize history.)

'Rape culture' investigation shocks Virginia university
The allegations made in the latest issue of Rolling Stone are shocking. An 18-year-old University of Virginia freshman attends a party at one of the school's oldest fraternities in the fall of 2012. "Jackie", as she is called in the article, is invited upstairs by her date, where she says she is gang raped by seven fraternity brothers. (Webmaster's comment: The worst punishment after many years of raping at the school was a single one year suspension. A one year suspension for a violent act of aggression against a women! Rape is a CRIME and should be treated as such! Every act of forcible rape of a woman should result in at least several years of jail time. The men that rape are CRIMINALS! Let's stop making excuses for these brutal men and punish them severely.)

In U.S., 37% Do Not Feel Safe Walking at Night Near Home
Fewer than four in 10 adults in the U.S. (37%) say there is an area within a mile of where they live where they would be afraid to walk alone at night, similar to Americans' attitudes over the last decade and a half. Most Americans continue to feel safe in their immediate communities, with 63% saying they would not be afraid to walk alone there at night. Nearly half of all women, 45%, say they do not feel safe walking alone at night, compared with 27% of men. For instance, in 2010, 50% of women said they did not feel safe walking at home at night, compared with 22% of men, for a difference of 28 points.

What did St Paul say about women?
Can two sides in a debate - both composed of sincere, intelligent people - look at precisely the same set of evidence and reach precisely opposite verdicts? "Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says." First letter to the Corinthians. "I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet." First letter to Timothy. (Webmaster's comment: What could be clearer? No matter what religion you practice or what system of government you live under or what culture you live in, historically women are chattel and subservient to men.)

The man who killed his daughter's rapist
The case of an Indian man who tortured and killed his daughter's alleged rapist has shocked the country - but many are hailing him as a hero. The BBC's Geeta Pandey met the family. The father - who cannot be named for legal reasons - voluntarily turned himself in to the police saying he believed his victim deserved such torture. He believed the man had raped his 13-year-old daughter. (Webmaster's comment: There is no excuse for taking the law into your own hands. It is never right and much to often you harm or kill the wrong person. Then you're more wrong than the original criminal and deserve the full punishment for your crime.)

Where are the white men?
The two-minute video of a woman being sexually harassed as she walked the streets of New York has become an internet sensation, garnering more than 31 million hits on YouTube in just five days. It has also sparked an online debate over what the video does - and doesn't - show. Isn't harassment of women walking alone in urban areas--(as men do freely & without incident)--a matter of neighborhoods? In NYC, certainly. Basically Rob Bliss is a rich white guy with a vested interest in portraying poor black men as the sole perpetrators of street harassment.

"What kind of example do they show to their children? From now on, we will arrest all women we find in restaurants and cafes." (Webmaster's comment: Mob "justice" at work, but as always blame the women.)
