'It's rape': Sayreville High School players face charges of abusive hazing
A small New Jersey town is reeling weeks after seven high-school varsity American football players were accused of charges ranging from hazing to aggravated sexual assault earlier this month. According to the victims, seniors on the Sayreville War Memorial High School team would run into the locker room, turn the lights off, pin them to the floor and, at the very least, grab their buttocks. This allegedly happened on multiple occasions between 19 and 29 September. Three of the players are facing more serious charges, including the sexual penetration of one victim. A Reader's Comment on the story: "Hazing ... is fine provided it doesn't cross into abuse. A bit of ritual humiliation can even be good." (Webmaster's comment: Many American's attitude on this kind of behavior is absolutely unbelievable. It's no wonder American society has descended into daily episodes of violence.)

The Dutch charity called Terre des Hommes created Sweetie said men from 71 countries had tried to solicit her. One undercover operator said "Some of the men we interacted with literally give me nightmares." (Webmaster's comment: Sweetie was used before in Briton. See: Computer-generated 'Sweetie' catches online predators. 1,000 men is nothing, Millions of men are involved. See: Anti-pedophile police fight child porn 'epidemic'.)

10-8-14 Trial date set for NFL star Adrian Peterson

Mr Hardin has described his client as a "Loving Father" who had "used the same kind of discipline with his child that he experienced as a child growing up in east Texas". 9-23-14 Demanding justice for women and children abused by Irish nuns
Demanding justice for women and children abused by Irish nuns
An inquiry last year into Ireland's Magdalene laundries, where for decades thousands of women were forced to work by nuns, found no evidence that workers were abused. But those who experienced life inside laundry walls angrily reject this, and are insisting that the nuns be held accountable. For decades, Ireland ignored the stories told by the former Magdalene laundry workers. After all, weren't people told by the priests that they were just fallen women, or the criminally insane, who deserved to be locked up for most of their adult lives and work, without pay, to atone for their sins? (Webmaster's comment: Seems the Catholic church is still running a cover-up. We have a very good movie on the Magdalene Sisters and the Catholic nun's abuse of women and children at The Magdalene Sisters).
9-20-14 Understanding black America and the spanking debate
Understanding black America and the spanking debate
The NFL football star Adrian Peterson's child abuse scandal has sparked a national debate in America about spanking children and the growing illegality of certain kinds of "abusive" corporal punishments. In a personal piece, author Stacey Patton describes the complex legacy of corporal punishment in black America. As a young child, my adoptive mother stripped me naked and whipped me with switches, belts, hangers, shoes, and extension cords. Her reasons? Because the Bible said it was right, she loved me, she wanted to protect me from the mean streets, drugs, early pregnancy, and white people who she said wanted to beat me up, lock me in a jail or leave me for dead in the streets.

One in 10 girls sexually abused, says UN report
About 120 million girls around the world - slightly more than one in 10 - have been raped or sexually assaulted by the age of 20, a UN report says. The children's agency Unicef also says 95,000 children and teenagers - most of them in Latin America and the Caribbean - were murdered in 2012 alone. Nigeria had the highest number of child homicides - 13,000, while the US had the highest homicide rate among countries in Western Europe and North America. The study revealed that about six out of 10 children aged between two and 14 were subjected to physical punishment from their carers on a regular basis. It notes that children around the globe are routinely exposed to violence, including bullying. Slightly over one in three students aged 13-15 experience regular bullying in school. The document draws on data from 190 countries.

Prof Alexis Jay: "It is hard to describe the appalling nature of the abuse the child victims suffered". Five men from the town were jailed for sexual offences against girls in 2010, but the report said police "regarded many child victims with contempt".
8-7-14 FGM: UK police investigate 'dozens' of cases since 2011
FGM: UK police investigate 'dozens' of cases since 2011
Police forces have revealed there have been dozens of investigations into female genital mutilation (FGM) in the UK over the past three years. The NSPCC said it was "encouraging" more cases were being reported despite no convictions. Police said every case was "thoroughly investigated". The practice has been illegal in the UK since 1985 but the first prosecutions, which are currently ongoing, were not until this year. (Webmaster's comment: It took 28 years, a full generation, for anyone to do anything despite "cutting off women's genitals" being illegal. This shows how little the people in the UK care about the rights of women children. In the United States FGM has been illegal since 1996, yet there has been only one prosecution. It is estimated 230,000 women children are at risk in the United States of having FGM performed on them. It obviously happens all the time being performed by doctors from the same cultures or at home with whatever is handy.)

The scope of this problem is way beyond even 100,000 arrests.)

7-24-14 Global decline of wildlife linked to child slavery
Global decline of wildlife linked to child slavery
New research suggests the global decline in wildlife is connected to an increase in human trafficking and child slavery. Ecologists say the shortage of wild animals means that in many countries more labour is now needed to find food. Children are often used to fill this need for cheap workers, especially in the fishing industry. There's a direct link between the scarcity of wildlife, the labour demands of harvests and this dramatic increase in child slavery.
7-21-14 Hot car deaths: The children left behind

Every few days in the US, there are local media reports about young children dying from heatstroke, or being rescued, after being left to bake in parked cars. Why does it happen so often?
7-18-14 Could a child sex robot treat pedophilia?
Could a child sex robot treat pedophilia?
During a robotics conference last week, ethicists discussed the moral implications of using childlike-robots to help treat pedophiles. The theory is that these machines would help provide a non-harmful outlet for an individual's sexual inclinations as part of a treatment programme. It's like providing methadone to heroin addicts, the reasoning goes. The concern is that a child sex robot could encourage pedophiles to act on their impulses instead of serving as a safe outlet for them. (Webmaster's comment: Using the same logic we should provide realistic life-like "robots" that scream and bleed for all people with sick minds to practice on; children to bully and abuse, women to bully and abuse, children to rape, women to rape, gays to violently assault, minorities to violently assault, i.e. imitation human beings to violently assault AND maybe even kill. This is a VERY BAD IDEA and will do nothing towards teaching behavior discipline to people with behavior problems or to help curb these problems in society.)
7-17-14 Online child abuse reports surge, says US watchdog

(Webmaster's comment: With 112 million known child abuse images on the Internet - see story Anti-pedophile police fight child porn 'epidemic' below - and tens of thousands more being added every week, we haven't begun to address this problem yet.)

7-10-14 Teen sexting prosecution prompts outrage
Teen sexting prosecution prompts outrage
On Wednesday the Washington Post reported on the case of a 17-year-old from Manassas, Virginia, who is facing felony charges for manufacturing and possessing child pornography after he allegedly texted nude images of himself to his 15-year-old girlfriend. The case raises a number of challenging questions. Why was the girl, who allegedly started the string of explicit texted images, not also charged with child pornography? Should child pornography laws be applicable in cases of teenage sexting? Is it appropriate that, if convicted, the teen will have to register as a sex offender for life? (Webmaster's comment: In another twist the prosecutors want to force the boy to have an erection so they can take pictures! This is all just plain NUTS, as is the story below.)

Masai women in Kenya meet to discuss practice of FGM
The practice of female genital mutilation (FGM), where women's genitals are altered or injured for non-medical reasons, is rife in parts of Africa. Dangers include severe bleeding, problems urinating, infections, infertility and increased risk of newborn deaths in childbirth. Despite these complications, cultural and religious beliefs mean millions of girls are still at risk of being mutilated. Anne Soy reports from Kenya where there is a generational divide between proponents of FGM and those who want to abandon the tradition.
